The short version

If your flights leave you roughly 48 hours in Labuan Bajo, the 2D1N is the shortest way to sleep on the water inside the park. Book the whole boat: shared cabins are sold on the 3D2N.

  • Riley 2D1N private trip: USD 3,350 per package for 1–8 persons (checked 16 Sep 2026)
  • A 2D1N open trip exists on request only, so do not build a tight itinerary around it
  • One night less means one sunset, fewer stops and far less slack
  • Send your LBJ flight times before booking — the return window shifts with weather and tides

Plate I

Open trip or private charter

Mostly private. Shared cabins are sold on the 3D2N open trip, and a 2D1N share departure only forms if it can be filled.

Open trip or private charter
Format How it is sold in 2026 Price basis
2D1N private charter The standard way to book 2D1N Per vessel, published by each boat
2D1N open trip On request only Quoted by the desk per departure
3D2N open trip, share cabin Typically departs Mon–Wed and Fri–Sun Per person, quote on request
Weekday open trip Weekday departures Per person, quote on request

If you need a fixed date and your own schedule, book the whole boat. That also changes the price logic: charters are priced per vessel, never per person.

Plate II

What a private 2D1N costs

Published on Komodo Luxury vessel pages as of 16 September 2026. Each rate applies to that named boat only.

What a private 2D1N costs
Vessel 2D1N rate Guests included Larger groups
Riley (phinisi) USD 3,350 per package 1–8 USD 3,600 per package for 9–10
Malca Voyages Quote on request 1–12 Ask the desk
Le Costa (luxury yacht) Quote on request 1–14 Quote on request

Lady Grace lists an additional charge beyond its 11–20 guest band: IDR 4,000,000 per person on 2D1N (checked 16 September 2026). Elbark, Ayvara, Raffles and Vinca are quoted on request. Core inclusions are the boat, all meals, snorkelling equipment and a guide; the park fee is extra and paid once per trip, and alcohol is charged separately.

Plate III

A sample 2D1N, hour by hour

Treat this as a sample. The real order depends on the vessel, weather, tides and the park entry session your operator secures.

A sample 2D1N, hour by hour
When Day 1 Day 2
Early Board in Labuan Bajo; a pre-dawn run at Padar where the boat and slot allow Komodo Island (Loh Liang) ranger walk, or Rinca, in a morning session
Midday Padar viewpoint hike, swim stop Pink Beach snorkelling, lunch aboard
Afternoon Sail toward Kalong Island Manta Point if time and conditions allow, then the return sail
Evening Kalong Island sunset, anchored before dark Back in Labuan Bajo; arrival window confirmed by the desk

  • A Komodo dragon on the shoreline in Komodo National Park Loh Liang
  • A manta ray gliding over the reef at Manta Point Manta Point

Two 2026 rules that shape the schedule

On a one-night trip these matter more than on any other format, because there is no spare day to absorb them.

  1. A park-wide cap of about 1,000 visitors a day was reported, trialled January–March 2026 and enforced from 1 April 2026, with sessions around 05:00–08:00, 08:00–11:00 and 15:00–18:00.
  2. Guests are pre-registered digitally with passport details through the operator manifest, so walk-in entry is not reliable.
  3. After-dark movement in high-risk park zones was reportedly restricted from 10 January 2026, which is why the boat reaches its anchorage before nightfall.
  4. Cruises run year-round, but most departures cluster in the April–November dry season when seas are usually calmer.
  5. Confirm the current rules with the desk before you travel.

Plate IV

What you give up against a 3D2N

One night less means one sunset, fewer stops and far less slack if weather or a park slot shifts.

What you give up against a 3D2N
Factor 2D1N 3D2N
Nights aboard 1 2
Shared cabin On request only Yes, quoted per person on request
Core stops Padar, Komodo or Rinca, Pink Beach; Manta Point if time allows Padar, Pink Beach, Komodo Island and Manta Point
Extra sites Rarely fit More room; longer trips add Taka Makassar and Kanawa
Pace Early starts, little buffer Time to absorb weather or slot changes
Riley, 1–8 guests USD 3,350 per package USD 4,350 per package

Neither format guarantees a dragon or a manta sighting.

Who should book one night instead of two

If you want Taka Makassar, a slower rhythm or the lowest per-person price, the 3D2N share trip fits better.

Plate VI

How booking a 2D1N works

Lead with your flight times. On this format they decide everything else.

  1. Send the basics

Travel dates, guest count, and your arrival and departure flight times at LBJ.

  2. Pick the format

Private charter is standard for 2D1N; ask whether an on-request open trip is forming.

  3. Match a vessel

The desk shortlists boats by group size and budget and routes you to each vessel page.

  4. Confirm and register

Share passport details for the park manifest.

  5. Arrive early

Reach Labuan Bajo the day before if you can, then board at the scheduled time.
