What is the best age to bring children?

Ages 6 and up usually get the most from the trip. They can climb part of Padar, snorkel at Pink Beach and follow a ranger's instructions. Toddlers can still come on a private charter with a slower schedule and short trails. The best age also depends on the child's swimming ability and how they handle heat.

Should a family of four share or charter?

Inclusions differ between vessels, so two rates are not comparable until you have read both pages.

Lady Grace was listed in June 2026 with 10 cabins, so ask how a group above 10 would be split between them.
Elbark, Ayvara, Raffles and Vinca do not publish enough family detail to quote here. Their prices come from the desk.
Park fees are extra. The national park fee is not part of the charter price — ask the desk for the current amount.
Lady Grace lists an additional charge beyond its 11–20 guest band: IDR 4,000,000 per person on 2D1N, IDR 5,500,000 on 3D2N and IDR 7,000,000 on 4D3N. The Riley page lists no extra-guest supplement.

The family safety checklist

Eight lines to send the desk before you pay. The park is remote, and none of this can be sorted out once you have sailed.

Life jackets by weight. Send every child's age and rough weight and ask the desk to confirm child-size jackets are aboard. For a very small infant, bring a vest you trust.
Dragon walks. Keep children beside the ranger — no running, no wandering off the trail, and follow every distance instruction.
Shallow snorkelling first. Start at Pink Beach where children can stand. Pack a well-fitting child mask, a rash vest and a float.
Sun and heat. The islands have little shade by late morning; the reported 05:00–08:00 and 15:00–18:00 sessions suit children better than midday. Bring hats, reef-safe sunscreen and extra water.
Seasickness. Ask your paediatrician about child-safe remedies before you fly.
Season. Most departures run April–November, when seas are usually calmer. December–March brings more weather changes.
Evenings at anchor. After-dark movement in high-risk park zones was reportedly restricted from 10 January 2026, so boats reach anchor before nightfall.
Medicines and insurance. Pack each child's usual medicines and buy travel insurance that covers boat trips.
